June 10, 2019: "We love to see you at open houses (even if you're a neighbour...)"

The busy spring market is upon us and it seems everyone is thinking about Real Estate. This is traditionally the busiest time of year for buying and selling homes and the combination of good weather and more listings coming on the market means it is also open house season. I personally love hosting open houses; it's a great chance to showcase a property and get to meet people. There is something great in this digital age about being face to face with the public.

I hosted an open house at a lovely family home in a great neighbourhood this weekend and had a number of people who own houses on the street come through. They were all quick to announce that they were just 'nosy neighbours' and asked if it was okay if they come in to have a look. Of course it is; it is an 'Open House' after all. I believe when you see a lot of people that live in the area coming to an open house that it shows what a great and friendly neighbourhood it is. Owning a home is a big deal, both emotionally and financially and it's only natural that you might be curious about sales nearby. I always tell Sellers that when they list their property and put a For Sale sign up, their neighbours will notice and be interested. You can expect some of them to come through your open houses, in fact if the street has a friendly vibe to it you may consider hosting a "Friends, Family and Neighbours" open house on its own to make them feel welcome. Who better to sell your neighbourhood than the people already living there who know and love it.

A bit about me now… Like many people in my generation, my career path has been varied and interesting, leading me in many different directions. I started by studying Jazz Performance as a trumpet player in college, moved on to retail management, then spent a few years in the banking business here in Victoria. During my time in banking I served the public, facilitated courses for staff and took courses in financial planning and marketing. Next up was time spent in construction, working as an apprentice electrician. My next venture was self-employed as a full-time yoga instructor for almost a decade. When I decided to add to my skill set and pursue another line of work it only made sense to combine my passion for teaching and helping people with my knowledge of financing and construction and take my Real Estate License.

You can expect excellent service and communication from me, as well as clear and simple explanation of the complexities of a real estate transaction. My practice is to provide clients with the information and guidance they need to make the right choice for them and ensure that the process of negotiation, due diligence and completion of a sale or purchase are as smooth and seamless as possible.
